Third Installment of the “Discover the ERCK Trail” Paddling Series January 12th

Edisto River Adventures continues a series of guided paddles designed to explore 60 miles of the Edisto River known as the Edisto River Canoe and Kayak Trail. Colleton and Givhans State Parks are partnering with the outfitter on the outings scheduled for the 2nd Saturday of each month through April 2019.

Paddle #2 of 6 will start where they left off last month – Minnie Gruber Rumph Landing (Stokes Bridge) – and end at Mars Old Field Landing. This 8-mile section of twists and turns will feature a side foray into Indian Field Swamp. This area, where few have had the opportunity to paddle, is chock full of Tupelo and Cypress trees and knees.

Colleton State Park’s primitive campground is reserved for anyone who wants to camp the night before and/or the night of ($5/person). For those that prefer water and power sites – please contact Colleton State Park (843) 538-8206.

Shuttle service is a $10 donation that covers the entire series.  Kayak or Paddleboard rentals are $45 and those with their own equipment are welcome as well.

January 12th Trip Schedule:

Edisto River Stewardship Day 2018

Help us remove litter from Bamberg to Jacksonborro!  Friends of the Edisto Stewardship Day will be held May 12 at Colleton State Park. First held in 2002, this annual service event is designed to increase the appreciation of the river and demonstrate the impact litter has on our beautiful river. Unfortunately the people who litter are not the ones who help with the cleanup.

Many thanks to Colleton County who supports the effort by providing a dumpster at the park and having their employees make a circuit of the landings to collect trash collected by our volunteers.

Live music and a BBQ lunch prepared by Dukes of Ridgeville highlight the after party! The music starts at 10AM and lunch is served at noon.

We invite you to pick up supplies at the gazebo on Hwy 15 after 9AM. If you have a group that would like to make supply arrangements in advance please contact Howard Bridgman at 843-297-2366 or HSB0255@bellsouth.net.

Building on its years of cleanups, FRED has recently been working to have our landings adopted. Unfortunately, one or two cleanups a year isn’t enough to keep the river clean. Hugo Krispyn of FRED has signed up 14 landings on the river so far. If you would like to adopt a landing please contact Hugo Krispyn at hugo@swampvox.com.
