Local Outfitter Offering First Installment of the “Discover the ERCK Trail” Paddling Series

On Saturday, November 10th, Edisto River Adventures begins a series of guided paddles designed to explore 60 miles of the Edisto River known as the Edisto River Canoe and Kayak Trail. Colleton and Givhans State Parks are partnering with the outfitter on the outings scheduled for the 2nd Saturday of each month through April 2019.

The 11/10 paddle will begin at Green Pond Church Landing and end at Colleton State Park. This 9-mile paddle will launch into one of the Edisto’s many oxbows and meander through incredibly beautiful Cypress bottomland to the river’s main stem.  Once on the main stem, the group will paddle downstream to Colleton State Park on a serene and largely undeveloped section of the Edisto. The move into Autumn will create beautiful changes to the landscape and the opportunity to see nature at her best will be prime time.

Throughout the series, the state parks’ primitive camping spaces will be available to folks traveling from near or far on Friday and/or Saturday night. Additionally, there are limited water and power sites available that can be reserved by contacting the park directly. Rental paddling equipment can be arranged with Edisto River Adventures. A shuttle will be provided for those with their own boats and gear. Sign in and registration start on Friday afternoon at 5:00 P.M. in the primitive camping area. Sign in and registration along with coffee and breakfast will continue at 7:00 A.M. on Saturday. The shuttle process will begin at 8:00 A.M. and we will start pushing off at 10:00 A.M. The 11/10 paddle will finish back at the park where a camp fire, s’mores and guitar picking await. Contact Edisto River Adventures 843-695-8146 for more information and to register.
